shipping for me is always a chemistry thing. our muses have to have at least interacted a couple of times before i even consider shipping.theo has now moved to be written by my bestie lyn over on @gostridr. he is single ship with ellie - but is more than happy to be open for any sort of writing!i do not have many triggers that you need to be weary of. i am pretty chill when it comes to things of that nature. on this blog there will be written descriptions of paranoia and insomnia , hallucinations and loss of memory. there will be written descriptions of taking medication and hospital ( psychiatric ward ) visits , with mild descriptions of gore and horror like themes.

THE TIMELINEThe Year 1992. Age Zero.- Born December 25th, on a cattle farm in Alice Springs, Australia
- It was a hot and dry Christmas Morning. Her mother is Patricia Matheson - who had a one night thing with Leroy Jethro Gibbs when she was visiting her good friend Tish in California late November 1991. Gibbs and Trish met through Tish's partner, Mike Franks, who worked at NIS with Gibbs.
- Middle name is Margaret, after Patricia's grandmother.
- Patricia never told Gibbs (or Tish or Franks) that she was pregnant. Gibbs never knew that Ellie was born.The Year 1993 to 2000. Ages One to Eight.- Elenore, who was given the nickname Ellie from early on, spends her early childhood on her mother's family cattle ranch.
- Runs barefoot in red dirt, bottle-feeding calves, climbing fences, learning how to throw a rope before she learns cursive.
- Knows how to ride horses before she could properly walk.
- Fierce independence but also clingy with her mother.
- Ellie starts to notice her mothers episodes a lot easier as she gets older. Confusion, paranoia, long days in bed - but Ellie is still too young to understand. She just knows that "Mum gets sad sometimes"
- Extended family (her uncles and cousins) help to raise her, but they are far too busy with the ranch and their own families to take care of her 24/7The Year 2000 - Late October. Age Eight.- Patricia is hospitalized following a psychotic break; doctors have known that she had schizophrenia and bipolar disorder - they just didn't know that she hadn't been taking her medications.
- Australian Child Protective Services contacts Leroy Jethro Gibbs from the other side of the world via Mike Franks. Gibbs is blindsided - he never knew he had another daughter.
- Ellie, scared and grieving the sudden loss of her mother, reluctantly boards a plane to Washington D.C. Her extended could not take her in. So instead, she had to move to the other side of the world - to live with someone she doesn't even know. Someone people have been telling her is her father
- At first, Gibbs is awkward and distant. He hasn't had a family in over a decade. Let alone a little girl; Ellie is defiant and homesick. Missing the Australian sun and red dirt beneath her feet.
- But as time goes on, small rituals start to form.The Year 2003. Age Eleven.- School reports come in: emotional outbursts, self-harming language, periods of withdrawal
- Ellie is admitted into the Plainsboro Teaching Hospital, where she's evaluated for Borderline Personality Disorder symptoms.
- Ellie begins to split her time between home, therapy and occasional inpatient stays at the New Jersey Hospital. There were hospitals closer to home, however, everyone knew that Plainsboro had the best mental health care. Gibbs wanted the best for his daughter.
- Still clings to the basement as a "safe zone"The Year 2005. Age Twelve.- Caitlin Todd is killed. Ellie, who looked up to Kate as a big sister figure, is devastated.
- Ari, Kate's killer, crosses paths with Ellie after school one day. Forces her to walk him home. The Basement confrontation happens the same night; Ziva kills Ari, saving Gibbs and Ellie's lives.
- After this, Gibbs becomes even more protective. Ellie is often shadowed by Tony and Tim.
- This is also the same year that Ellie is kidnapped in relation to an NCIS case.The Year 2006. Age Thirteen.- Ellie regularly hangs around the NCIS HQ before and after school. It is is her safe space. Calls Tony and Tim her brothers. Abby her sister and Ducky her grandpa. Jimmy is her uncle and Jenny Shepherd a mother figure of sorts.
- Then there is Ziva. The person Ellie felt replaced Kate. But after some time, Ellie comes to adore the Israeli woman. Ellie teaches Ziva English idioms. Ziva teaches Ellie Hebrew words. Their bond becomes sister like.
- Tim starts to call Ellie "Kid". While Tony calls her "Nellie" the only person who is allowed to.The Year 2007. Age Fourteen.- Ellie petitions to legally change her last name to Gibbs. She wants the connection, even if Gibbs never pushed her into this decision.
- Patricia is in long-term care; visits are few and far between, considering how far away she is. Ellie loves her mother but feels like Gibbs is now her real anchor.
- Cheerleading becomes a passion - Ellie is a flyer, tiny and agile, and it gives her an outlet for energy and identity.
- Gibbs doesn't love the idea of cheerleading but quietly attends competitions.
- Ziva helps braid her hair before events; Abby makes glittery posters.The Year 2009. Age Sixteen
- Ellie starts dating Nathan, a boy from school. Gibbs tolerates it - barely.
- At a party, Ellie drinks too much (mixing alcohol with her medication) and is assaulted by one of Nathan’s friends. She wakes up disoriented, ashamed, and tells no one.
The aftermath begins her long struggle with trust and self-worth.- School becomes unbearable; gossip spreads fast.
Nathan distances himself, believing the rumors.
Ellie withdraws emotionally, finding comfort in spending more time at NCIS.
- Weeks later, Ellie confides in Abby, the only person she feels safe enough to tell.
Abby eventually tells Ziva, Tim, and Tony, who respond with fierce protectiveness and heartbreak.- When Gibbs finally finds out, his reaction is quiet but volcanic - he doesn’t see Ellie any differently, and that finally allows her to start healing.The Year 2010. Age Seventeen
- The truth surfaces. The perpetrator is expelled and later sent to juvenile detention. It doesn’t give Ellie peace, but it brings relief that no one else will be hurt.
- Ellie and Nathan part ways around Christmas (her 17th birthday).
Gibbs, the team, and Abby rally around her during the holidays.
- Ellie focuses on school, baking, and small normalcy - helping in the NCIS breakroom, cooking with Abby, shadowing Ducky in autopsy when she can stomach it.The Year 2011. Age Eighteen
- Ellie graduates high school - Tony and McGee attend. Unsure about college, Ellie takes a waitressing job at a local diner near the Navy Yard, occasionally baking pastries that become a hit with customers.- A charming, older regular (late 30s) begins talking with her - Jonathan Cole (as Casey Stratton), secretly part of Phantom Eight under Harper Dearing’s command. He uses light flirtation and kindness to earn her trust, unaware of her connection to NCIS.
- Ellie finds out Cole’s true identity during the Phantom Eight investigation (Season 9).
She spots him in an NCIS photo and hides her reaction, torn between betrayal and understanding.
- She confronts Cole at the diner. He admits that what began as manipulation became genuine friendship. When Dearing’s plot unfolds, Ellie witnesses Cole’s redemption - he sacrifices himself to save Gibbs and others during the Navy Yard bombings.The Year 2012. Age Nineteen
- The bombing hits too close; she loses acquaintances and revisits old fears. Gibbs insists she starts therapy again. Ellie complies, meeting up with Dr. Nolan for renewed sessions once more at Plainsboro. Skype calls this time around.
- Ellie doesn't immediate go to college. The bombings have made her a irrationally scared. Putting off her academic learning to stay close with her father and the team.
- She channels her trauma into cooking and therapy - stability and creativity become her medicine.
- Ellie spends most of her off time with Ziva. Spending the weekends baking with her. Their bond deepens even more.The Year 2013. Age Twenty
- Ziva leaves NCIS; Ellie feels the loss acutely. Before leaving, Ziva gives her the Star of David necklace, saying,- “Even when the world goes dark, you can still find your way home.”
The necklace becomes Ellie’s most precious possession.- Ellie vows to live boldly - to make something of herself, as Ziva would’ve wanted.The Year 2014. Age Twenty One- Ellie starts to research culinary schools and finds the New Orleans Culinary & Hospitality Institute (NOCHI). Fate intervenes when a joint NCIS case brings Gibbs’ team to New Orleans. Ellie tags along to tour NOCHI.- Ellie meets Special Agent Dwayne “King” Pride and Christopher LaSalle. Pride sees echoes of Gibbs in her and quietly promises to “keep an eye on her” if she ever moves south.- Ellie is accepted into NOCHI and prepares to relocate. Before leaving, she visits her mother Patricia Matheson in long-term care back in Alice Springs, Australia. The visit is bittersweet—Patricia’s mind drifts in and out, but Ellie finds closure in saying goodbye.- On her last night in Alice Springs, Ellie meets Lt. Cmdr. Theodore “Theo” Wells, a Navy pilot (callsign Ghostrider). They don’t exchange names - just a spark, a connection, a moment that feels like fate.- Also stationed aboard the USS Constellation, Clayton James (communications officer) notices Ellie first and becomes obsessed. When Theo accidentally bumps into her, Clayton’s resentment ignites - he blames Theo for everything he doesn’t have.The Year 2015. Age Twenty Two.- Ellie moves to the city, starts NOCHI, and works part-time at a diner near the Navy Yard. Pride checks in often, honoring his promise to Gibbs.- Fate brings Ellie and Theo back together when the Constellation docks in NOLA. They finally talk, learn each other’s names, and start an unspoken courtship.- But Theo is not the only one who feels like fate has brought him to Ellie. Clayton has stalked Ellie online (ever since that night) and in person, digging into her past - her medical records, her mother, learning who her father is. He inserts himself into her life under the guise of friendship, watching her relationship with Theo grow.- After the case closes, the Constellation deploys again.
Theo and Ellie share a tender goodbye in her apartment. Spending their first night together.- Ellie maintains her routine - school, bakery, calls to her father.
Emails from Theo keep her grounded. Then new messages start appearing… from Clayton James.
At first they seem friendly - until small details suggest he knows far too much.- When Theo and the Constellation is docked in D.C. for a couple of nights, Ellie flies back home and Theo and Gibbs finally meet. It was awkward and a little tense, but having Abby, Tony, Tim and Bishop there - took away some of that tension. Ellie is .. inwardly ecstatic that Gibbs reaction was ... good.The Year 2016. Age Twenty Three.
